Louvain-la-Neuve, BELGIUM, December 29, 2018, 3D SIDE S.A., a spin-off from the Université Catholique de Louvain (UCL), strengthened by a €3M ($ 3.4 M) capital increase, starts commercializing a global SaaS platform to enhance new efficient production processes of patient-specific devices. This in-house developed SaaS (Software as a Service) platform is flexible, ISO13485 certified and powerful. SaaS Customize contains amongst other tools, a PMS module, (post marketing surveillance) permitting the surgeon to evaluate/report on the long term the performances of medical device, like implants. The response to this new SaaS is boding well as Med-Tech market is shifting from the batch-based manufacturing of medical tools to a more patient-specific environment.
The company has been founded by merging existing companies respectively founded in 2013 by Laurent PAUL and Khanh TRAN DUY in 2015. To gain market traction, 3D-Side has initially developed bone tumor resection surgical guides and molds for cranial implants which are being used by leading surgeons in different geography. The current financing round, successfully accomplished with the support of TheClubDeal, funds a global reinforcement, business development, software certification and market access.
Investors in the EUR 3 million committed equity round for 3D-Side, include lead investor POWERGRAPH represented by Guido Van der Schueren, and individual international investors. Mr. Guido Van der Schueren served as Managing Director and Chairman of the Board of Artwork Systems Group. He served as Vice Chairman of the EskoArtwork Group from June 2007 until April 2011. As serial entrepreneur mainly in software companies he was board member of ADAM Software and is Chairman of the Board of Global Graphics (Euronext: GLOG:BB), Keyware Technologies (Euronext: KEYW:BB) Readz, HYBRID Software and PACKZ Software. Guido will chair the Board of Directors, that is joined by Laurent Jouret, representing Inventures II, another lead-investor.
